The Coupe
A candle-lit, speakeasy-style cocktail lounge on Van Duzer Street, pouring expertly built drinks — including a bartender's Dealer's Choice — plus cheese boards and late-night bites until 4 AM every night. Once named Staten Island's best bar by New York Magazine, it is the borough's go-to date-night and cocktail spot.
Blue Note
A Greenwich Village institution since 1981, this intimate 200-seat jazz room hosts legends and rising stars for two sets a night. Dinner and drinks at close quarters make every performance feel up close and personal.
Employees Only
A West Village speakeasy tucked behind a fortune-teller's curtain, famous for pioneering modern cocktail culture with a late-night kitchen to match. Expect Art Deco glamour, white-jacketed bartenders, and a complimentary bowl of chicken soup near closing time.
The Flagship Brewing Company
Staten Island's flagship craft brewery, a short walk from the ferry in Tompkinsville, pouring house brews like the Blood Orange IPA and Kill Van Kölsch in a spacious, dog-friendly taproom. Live music, games, and a drinks list made entirely in New York City make it the borough's favorite beer night out.
House of Yes
Bushwick's gloriously over-the-top performance nightclub, mixing themed dance parties with circus, cabaret, and aerial acts. Costumes are encouraged, and the crowd comes to participate, not just watch.
Knockdown Center
A sprawling former door factory in Maspeth turned arts and nightlife complex, hosting big-room electronic shows, raves, and concerts. Its industrial halls and outdoor Ruins space draw festival-sized crowds out to Queens.
The Sultan Room
An ornate, Turkish-inspired live music room in Bushwick with a sunken dance floor and a rooftop overlooking the skyline. Programming jumps from indie bands to disco and global dance parties.
Vistamar
A waterfront Latin seafood lounge on City Island where dinner service gives way to DJs and live music as the night builds. Come for the paella and margaritas, stay for dancing with a marina view.
Elsewhere
A multi-room Bushwick warehouse venue with a main hall, smaller club rooms, a loft café, and a big seasonal rooftop. It anchors Brooklyn's indie and electronic scene with concerts and DJ nights most days of the week.
230 Fifth Rooftop Bar
One of the city's largest rooftop lounges, facing the Empire State Building head-on from NoMad. It is famous for its winter igloos, frozen drinks, and a lively after-work and weekend party crowd.
BASEMENT
A raw, subterranean techno club beneath the Knockdown Center, modeled on Berlin's warehouse temples with a precision sound system and a no-photos door ethos. Nights run late — often to 8 AM — behind serious European techno bookings.
Good Room
Greenpoint's beloved two-room club, built by music lovers with a heavyweight sound rig in the main Good Room and the smaller Bad Room beside it. House, disco, and techno parties keep it unpretentious and dance-focused.
Salsa Con Fuego
A Kingsbridge Latin restaurant and lounge that turns into a full-on party spot with live salsa, R&B nights, comedy, and bottle service. Its Sunday all-you-can-eat brunch with unlimited mimosas is a Bronx staple.
Attaboy
A tiny, unmarked Lower East Side speakeasy from the Milk & Honey lineage, where there is no menu — bartenders build bespoke cocktails around your tastes. It remains a pilgrimage site for serious cocktail drinkers.
Somewhere Nowhere
A two-level rooftop lounge and pool club atop the Renaissance Chelsea Hotel, 39 floors up with 360-degree skyline views. Days are for poolside cocktails; nights bring DJs, bottle service, and a dress-to-impress crowd.
Webster Hall
A landmark East Village concert hall and nightclub dating to 1886, anchored by the Grand Ballroom's big-stage shows. Rock, pop, and electronic acts play to 1,500-capacity crowds spread across multiple floors.
SOB's (Sounds of Brazil)
Hudson Square's world-music headquarters since 1982, where Latin, Caribbean, African, hip-hop, and R&B acts play an intimate dinner-club room. Its stage has helped launch generations of stars, from salsa legends to modern hitmakers.
Marquee New York
Chelsea's big-room glamour club, relaunched with immersive LED walls and a state-of-the-art sound system. Top EDM and open-format DJs, VIP table service, and a dressy crowd define the night.
Le Bain
The Standard hotel's penthouse discothèque in the Meatpacking District, complete with a plunge pool at the edge of the dance floor and a grassy rooftop above. Sunset drinks melt into DJ-driven nights with Hudson River views.
PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown
A penthouse-style rooftop lounge on the 12th floor of Dream Downtown, all plush sectionals and skyline views. DJs spin Top 40, hip-hop, and house for a bottle-service crowd on weekend nights.
